Somewhere I have a branch, up to date as of 2011 or so, which allows the user to use structure-classes as superclasses of standard-classes. This is potentially neat, for experimenting with package and random-state protocols which might otherwise be hard to bootstrap. I should finish that work. (I should first find that branch and bring it back to life).
